Right from the birth has been in the control of a man, in childhood days she will be under the supervision of father. In the young age she will be ruled by her husband and in the old age she will be the under the fiefdom of her son and during her whole lifetime she has no identity of her own and possibility of becoming an independent identity remains far from reality. Well all there events are hearting rendering and stiffen the hairs.
Ms. Nasreen is an Eastern fatalist by birth, a Marxist by conviction, a self proclaimed atheist, a novelist, a columnist and a poet by her own wishes and a doctor in profession as per the wishes her of parent. She has been married thrice and has been from a very remote corner of the Bangladesh. Therefore, when some very explicit views came out of her mouth it took everybody by surprise that from where this lady has got these unconnected ideas. She has shown the courage to talk about those issues which were not even discussed in the most open and advanced social circles of Bangladesh. The topics on the sex and some controversial subject drawn the ire of the fundamentalist and soon the blasphemy charges was leveled against her. Within overnight this unknown anesthesiologist in a government clinic has became a cynosure of all the eyes particularly of the international media however, fundamentalist in her own country raised the sword against her and soon a fatwa was issued against her in Bangladesh. The amount on her head is mere twelve hundred and fifty dollars in Bangladesh which is quite a big sum over there. She completed her MBBS in 1984 as worked in different public hospitals including Mitford and Dhaka Medical College Hospital from 1986 to 1993. However, she was forced to leave the government job in 1993 as a protest because of her writing openly on the topics of oppression against the women and religion. And soon she had to leave Bangladesh because of the growing discontent amongst the fundamentalist. She is living in exile in three continents mainly USA, Sweden and India. Now her latest home is in France. She has been very candid in her discussions and said that all religious texts needs to be reviewed and new views should be made the part of it for the betterment of the society. Her famous books are Lajja, Amar Meyebela (My girlhood), Utol Hawa (Wild wind), Sei sob ondhakar (Those dark days), her autobiography Ko (Speak Up) and Dwinkhandito (Split in Two). All these great work has an anecdote of the her own struggle and dedication and passion for writing. |
