Condoleezza Rice

Condoleezza Rice is the 66th United States Secretary of State. She took over this responsibility on 26th January, 2005 under the President ship of George W. Bush. She was born on 14 November, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama, U.S. So, what made to write about this black woman who looks so average in her look and no strings of latest fashion in vogue is being attached to her?

Well it her presence in the political scene in the United States and her quest for the perfection in her job. Thing which can’t be ignored in the backdrop of the U.S. Presidential race in 2008 is her strong contender ship for the post of President of U.S. A staunch Republican by heart she is one of the 50 strongest ladies in the world arena. A career politician and seasoned diplomat, whatever, you say about this iron lady of U.S. is less. When she succeeded Colin Powell on January 26, 2005 after his resignation, Condoleezza became the first African American woman, second African American (after Powell), and second woman after Madeleine Albright to serve as the Secretary of State.

Before taking over the Sectary of State, Rice was the National Security Advisor during 2001 – 2005. Before joining the Bush administration she was a Professor of political science at Stanford University from 1993 to 1999.

Being born in the U.S. doesn’t mean that she had a very good life. The racial discrimination which she faced in the childhood days has left deep impressions her mind. She still remembers the humiliation she has gone through in her early days of life. This is what I believe has strengthen this woman so well that she has attained this height in her career. Until and unless somebody faces the misery of life, they remain aloof from the very fact of the life which other people have faced in their faces.

Injustices of Birmingham’s discriminatory laws and attitudes had been seen by this girl as a child. When Rice was a child her parents make sure that she uses the facilities in her house rather than using it in the public places marked distinctly for the colored skinned people. Condi was also once denied entry into the regular dressing room and relegated to the storage room at a departmental store.
